They say all good things come in twos and over here at Cashmere HQ, we couldn’t agree more! Today we’re chatting with fashionista best friends, Sid (right) and Miranda (left), founders of Londonistas about their love for fashion, their influences and what excites them the most about the Cashmere App. So grab a cuppa (or a glass of wine), switch on the Cashmere App Spotify playlist (see below) and enjoy…
Tell us a little bit about yourselves.
M: My name is Miranda and I am 22 years old. Sid and I met at University where we both studied Fashion Marketing, we both now have full time jobs in the fashion and beauty industries whilst running our blog Londonistas in our free time!
S: My name is Sidal and I am a 23 year old fashion blogger living in London, and working in the fashion industry!
Name one thing most people don’t know about you.
M: People are always surprised when they find out I’m half Mexican, they can never guess!
S: I’m starting a part-time psychology course this summer. Everyone thinks it’s totally random, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m super excited!
What got you into setting up Londonistas, and who are your biggest inspirations?
M: We set up Londonistas a little over a year ago. I’ve been obsessed with fashion bloggers ever since they first became popular when I was in school. Having a fashion blog is something I have always wanted to do for years, but it was never the right timing. When Sid and I met at University and discovered we both had the same passion, we decided to set up our blog together! It’s so much fun to do it with your best friend and having two of us makes us unique and means we can showcase our different styles. My fashion blogger inspirations are people like Chiara Ferragni, who have turned their blog into a business but have stayed true to their unique styles, and their blogs haven’t turned into constant adverts like so many nowadays (my pet peeve!).
S: Just like Miranda, I have always been obsessed with fashion bloggers, there was always something holding me back from starting my own blog. When Miranda and I met, creating the blog happened so naturally! We have so much in common, and have so much fun creating our blog together. I always describe our styles as ‘same, but different’. It’s definitely fun to showcase that on our blog. I agree with Miranda, Chiara Ferragni is definitely a big inspiration! I also love Bryan Boy, and how real and outspoken he is about the industry.
How would you describe your style?
M: In winter I would describe my style as cool and comfy, I like simple pieces with attention to detail. In the summer I like to wear more fun, bright pieces. I’m really into the effortless California girl style in the summer and feel super inspired by all the Coachella fashion right now. I don’t like looking too put-together with my fashion; I prefer a casual look.
S: My style is forever changing! I’m always inspired by the 90’s… oversized sweaters, tees, shirts and everything! Loads of denim, leather and vintage sportswear! In the summer I like being more girlie with maxi floral dresses paired with sneakers or biker boots. But like Miranda, I love keeping it super casual!
Where do you shop for clothes and accessories on a normal basis?
M: I love the high street to keep my closet up to date with the latest trends. My favourite places to shop are Zara, Bershka, Missguided and Forever 21 who always do cute pieces for summer.
S: I love high street brands, and the odd splurge on a luxury piece! My go-to stores are Zara, Off-White and Reclaimed Vintage. I also love supporting independent businesses, and ASOS Marketplace is great for that!
What’s the go-to fashion item in your closet that never fails to complete your outfit?
M: Definitely a good pair of trainers. I live in trainers and think they add a touch of ‘cool girl’ style to any outfit. I also love statement sunglasses as you can wear the simplest of outfits but look like you made an effort!
S: I have to agree with Miranda! My go-to is for sure a pair of trainers… I live for comfort, and my vans go with basically everything!
If you were given £1m to spend on clothes/accessories, what luxury stores would you splurge the cash on?
M: I’m loving the Gucci revival right now and Saint Laurent is always on point lately.
S: Definitely Vetements, Off-White and Gucci! I’m forever lusting over every piece!
What is one item of clothing you won’t be caught dead wearing?
M: It’s so hard to think of something as fashions change so much and the things that you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing 10 years ago are cool now! So I guess UGG boots?
Where do you look for style inspiration?
M: I love Pinterest for style inspo. Whenever I’m lacking inspiration or not sure how to style a certain piece, Pinterest always has my back!
S: Social media for sure! Pinterest and Tumblr are always winners when I’m lacking inspiration.
If you had to own one person’s wardrobe, whose would it be and why?
M: I really like cool, effortless, model-off-duty style. My all time style crush is Bella Hadid. I also love Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Taylor Hill.
S: Since my style is forever changing, a mixture of Bella Hadid and Aaliyah would be ideal!
What luxury items are you currently lusting after right now?
M: I want a pair of Gucci fur loafers! I am also lusting after Saint Laurent’s bags right now.
S: YES, to Gucci fur loafers and I NEED a Louis Vuitton Palm Springs mink backpack too!
Finally, what is the most exciting thing for you about the Cashmere App?
M: I love that Cashmere makes luxury accessible to everyone; by saving your money through the app it makes your dream pieces affordable.
S: I love that the Cashmere app makes saving for luxury pieces so easy for everyone and makes splurging more guilt free!
